Some of the biggest changes in our lives don’t feel important when they’re happening.
No warning. No sign that you’re standing at the edge of something that will change your future.
That’s what makes me love this moment in Chapter 1. Kali is sick, and like most kids, she wants to get better. She follows her mother’s order and takes her medicine. She has no idea she’s about to enter a world that will change her forever.
When I look back on my own life, I remember some moments that changed everything.
A conversation.
A new opportunity.
A hard choice.
Or choosing to keep moving forward when giving up seemed like the easier path. In the moment, these decisions seemed insignificant, but looking back, I see how each one shaped my path. You never know which small step might change everything.
